It’s that time of year where most of us are either formally or casually contemplating our goals for 2016 and with that it’s really important that we not get lost in the process or worse, lost in our goals. I’m hugely indebted to one person in particular for helping me to understand how to positively hold and frame my goals in a healthy way, and that person is Reverend Deborah L. Johnson or Reverend Deborah as she is affectionately called.

A few years back, I had the opportunity to hear Reverend Deborah speak in an interview and I knew at that time that I was hooked. There was something so powerful and so genuine about the delivery of her message that I instantly became a follower and student. And since then, whenever the opportunity presents itself, I gladly sit at her feet and soak in her gracious words of wisdom.

In 2011, I had the distinct honor of interviewing Reverend Deborah as a part of a tele-summit that I hosted called, Awaken Your Soul at Work and I cannot tell you how many times I have returned to that interview for nourishment and guidance.

What emerged was a conversation that has become absolutely central to my own work and one that I truly cherish. We touched on many things, but our talk was essentially about knowing how to show up fully in one’s career and how to move forward without getting attached to particular outcomes.

I use this interview to guide a discussion with participants in my Emerging Leader’s Coaching Program, but today I decided that I wanted to gift it to you. And I assure you that you will view yourself and work a bit differently after you have tuned in.

Here are a few highlights from my interview with Reverend Deborah:

  • The value in bringing your full, authentic self into your work
  • How you can successfully integrate work and play
  • The difference between clarifying your intentions and setting a goal
  • How and why your job can be viewed as your ministry
  • How to integrate your life and bring your best self into your work
  • How to transform your own work environment
  • The difference between “expectancy” and “expecting”
  • How to not allow your goals to limit your potential
  • How to create the life and career you desire

You are guaranteed to be re-inspired. And if you’re not familiar with Reverend Deborah, then it is my absolute pleasure to introduce her to you.

Reverend Deborah shares and illuminates in a way that is sure to move you at your core. So, please carve out 45 minutes of your time to grab some tea or your favorite drink and dive in! And please be sure to listen all the way to the end. You will not regret it and you will definitely be inspired.
